SSMIC’s Major Step Towards Khaf Development: Safer Roads, Brighter Future

According to the SSMIC Public Relations Office, the construction of the Salami–Khalilabad road, aimed at reducing accidents, improving infrastructure, and paving the way for sustainable development in the Khaf region, is progressing rapidly with the dedicated efforts of Sangan-Khorasan Steel Mining Industries Company (SSMIC). The details of this initiative were discussed in a recent interview.

Comprehensive Objectives and Strategic Implementation

Mojtaba Ebrahim Bay, Project Supervisor at SSMIC, stated in an interview with the PR correspondent:
“The Salami–Khalilabad road project is being executed at an optimal pace and in line with national and international standards. It is designed with a safety-oriented and development-driven approach, aiming to reduce road accidents and expand the region’s infrastructure capacity. All efforts are focused on achieving broad regional development goals.”

Route Redesign Despite Land Acquisition Challenges

Ebrahim Bay added:
“The project underwent a complete redesign and engineering review, utilizing SSMIC’s specialized resources and comprehensive managerial oversight. Despite increased land acquisition and disputes along the new route, the revised design was approved due to its safety and technical advantages.”

He continued:
“To accelerate implementation and ensure faster completion, two separate contractors were engaged to begin operations from both ends of the route—one from the city of Salami and the other from the village of Khalilabad. This strategic approach created executional synergy and enhanced project efficiency.”

Safe Design and Proper Spacing Between Corridors

The project supervisor further explained:
“To enhance safety, the new route has been designed with proper spacing between the new and old corridors. This plays a crucial role in reducing accident risks and improving traffic quality.”

He noted:
“One of the project’s key strengths is the on-site establishment of an asphalt plant, rock crusher, and concrete batching facility. This move ensured the prompt and direct supply of essential materials, reduced dependency on external resources, and significantly increased execution speed.”

Standardized Execution and Coordination with Authorities

Emphasizing adherence to standards, Ebrahim Bay stated:
“At every stage of implementation, necessary coordination was conducted with the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization, and other relevant bodies. All operations comply with national standards and safety requirements to deliver a reliable and sustainable project that will serve the region for years to come.”

He also praised the cooperation of local residents:
“One of the key success factors has been the support and participation of the region’s people, particularly hardworking farmers. Managerial planning and effective community engagement have helped address implementation challenges. We anticipate that this route will result in a significant reduction in traffic accidents, improved regional transportation, and better access to critical infrastructure.”

SSMIC: Committed to Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility

He added:
“As a leading entity in the field of social responsibility, SSMIC continuously pursues projects that meet industrial needs while also delivering public benefits. The Salami–Khalilabad corridor is one such initiative, representing a major public service for the people of Khaf.”

In conclusion, Ebrahim Bay stated:
“Monthly updates on the project’s progress will be shared. Our company is fully committed to completing this project with full transparency and ongoing stakeholder engagement until the final result is achieved.”
