Commissioning of the DCS Project at SSMIC
According to the Public Relations correspondent, Ali Akbar Akbari, Deputy for Development and Technology at Sangan-Khorasan Steel Mining Industries Company (SSMIC), announced that the integrated control system project for SSMIC’s electrical substations has been commissioned with an investment of approximately 800,000 euros over a period of about 12 months.
Akbari stated that the implementation of the DCS system was carried out without disrupting the production process of the plants and covered more than 120 live feeders at two voltage levels of 33 kV and 6.6 kV.
The Deputy for Development and Technology at SSMIC added that this system, by establishing three control centers—the main electrical substation of SSMIC (Substation 04) and its subsidiaries, the control center for the 5-million-ton concentrate plant and its subsidiaries, and Utility Substation No. 1 and its subsidiaries—utilizing fiber optic infrastructure with the IEC 61850 protocol for the connection of all protective relays, as well as the WinCC software on the SICAM PAS platform, will provide significant capabilities in operation, energy consumption management, and precise and convenient incident reporting.
Furthermore, Seyed Asad Asadzadeh, Project Manager for Electrical Systems at SSMIC, stated that with the completion of this project, the visibility of feeder and measurement equipment status, timely recording of electrical system faults in the plants, fault alerts for each feeder, easy and quick operation during switching and maintenance maneuvers, and seamless connection and access to protective relays for trained users on the DCS system have been achieved.
He concluded by noting that all equipment used in this project, including servers with industrial-grade switches, software, and other components, meet standard operational lifespan requirements.
