Sangan Steel Mining Industries Company (SSMIC)’s targeting, based on comparison and benchmarking with national and international standard data, has been the achievement of “zero accident,” which, fortunately, considering completely minor incidents in the employer sector, has been largely realized.
He continued, referring to the challenges in the contracting sector: Examination of data from the past several years showed that the majority of accidents were related to contractors; for this reason, the strategic project “Contractor HSE Management” was defined and implemented at Sangan Steel Mining Industries Company (SSMIC).
The Head of Safety and Health of Sangan Steel Mining Industries Company (SSMIC) explained: This project is implemented in three phases: “before contract conclusion,” “during cooperation,” and “after contract completion,” which includes the initial evaluation of contractors based on a scientific model, semi-annual periodic monitoring with over 22 indicators, and finally a final evaluation of proper performance from an HSE perspective.
He also reported on Sangan Steel Mining Industries Company (SSMIC)’s special attention to the physical and mental health of employees and their families and said: Health screening programs are being implemented in cooperation with physicians and psychologists, and efforts have been made to translate attention to families and mental health into practical actions.
In another part of his speech, Arab Zuzani considered safety culture as one of the key factors in accident prevention and added: According to global studies, more than 80% of accidents are caused by unsafe behaviors, therefore changing attitudes and beliefs and institutionalizing safety culture at all organizational levels is among the priorities of Sangan Steel Mining Industries Company (SSMIC).
